By shooting the streets of Sapporo with a wide open aperture, I was able to create a blurry background for the snowman, which is the subject of this work.
I believe that this is not just a photograph of a snowman, but a work that conveys the charm of Sapporo, where we live.
I take my hat off to the artist for creating a work that conveys the memories of Sapporo citizens in winter through the basic role of photography, which is to record daily life.

By using the soft light of the rising sun to capture the jewel ice on the frigid shore with an open aperture, the background is blurred and the sun and the hair storm in the distance are very impressive.
It is said that in the past few years, it has been difficult for jewel-ice to drift onto the shore, but the artist was able to accurately capture one of the few chances he had. This is a wonderful piece of work that conveys the harsh winter of Hokkaido and its beauty at the same time.

The many snowmen under the blue sky with their various expressions made this work very enjoyable to look at. By placing the sun’s rays on the diagonal of the snowman in the right corner of the picture, the viewer’s perspective naturally moves to the snowman in the back.
The composition allows the viewer’s perspective to move naturally to the snowman in the back of the picture, which captures the liveliness and joy of the snowman.
Although winter in the north is cold, this excellent work conveys the appeal of the joy of interacting with snow to the viewer.
