Hokkaido Dosanko Plaza Sapporo Branch, which sells over 2,000 specialty Hokkaido food products, is located inside “Kita Bell.” Despite its compact size, it’s full of delicious Hokkaido items including standard souvenir confectioneries, hair crabs and other seafood, cheese and butter, and local liquor, beer, and wine. Every three months, it introduces a new item, and some of them become hit items. It’s fun to discover a product before it creates a buzz. Surprisingly, there are many local customers, who buy pickles, prepared foods, and tofu to eat at home. About half of the customers are from Sapporo and its suburbs.
