Sapporo City Hall basement cafeteria

A little-known place for lunch in Sapporo’s Chuo-ku recommended for its set meals

Sapporo City Hall basement cafeteria is a little-known lunch spot in Sapporo’s Chuo-ku. The set meal of rice and miso soup with the side dish of the day (¥500 to ¥560) and the sushi and soba noodle set (¥670) are recommended. The 400 seats fill up very quickly during lunchtime at City Hall (12:15–13:00), so beware. To order, you purchase a meal ticket from the ticket machine and take it to the counter with the same menu number. When you place your tray and meal ticket on the counter, the kitchen staff will arrange the food on it for you. The seats with a view of the Japanese garden are recommended. Vegetables grown in Sapporo are used wherever possible. Enjoy lunch at the cafeteria where the idea is for you to “enjoy Sapporo home cooking”.
