The 64th Asahikawa Winter Festival
Powder Snow, Pristine Ice, and Festive Lights!
Located in central Hokkaido and about 2 hours’ drive away from Sapporo, Asahikawa hosts its own Winter Festival full of large snow sculptures, ice artwork, and a variety of fun activities!
Towering snow sculptures and stunning projection mapping shows.
Every year, a beautifully-crafted giant snow sculpture appears! The projection mapping show after the sun sets is highly recommended.
The amazing International Ice Sculpture Competition.
The International Ice Sculpture Competition in Asahikawa is the only officially judged ice artwork event held in Japan. The amazing carved figures, frozen in time, are created by sculptors from across Japan as well as from around the world. At night, the crystal-like statues are lit up, creating a wondrous atmosphere.
There are a variety of fun activities in the snow.
Wondering how you can enjoy playing in the snow? Check out the exciting banana boat rides, long snow slides, and even large Zorb balls!
