Sapporo Clock Tower
The oldest existing clock tower in Japan
The Sapporo Clock Tower was built in 1878 based on Dr. Clark's concept. It is one of the most popular spots in Sapporo and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. A tour of the museum is recommended to enjoy this facility. The statue of Dr. Clark, the father of Hokkaido's pioneering spirit, is located here. Sheep are freely spending their time on the grounds, and from the observatory you can enjoy the contrast between the rich natural surroundings and the city. The observatory at the top of the mountain has the "Bell of Happiness" popular among couples, a French restaurant, and a take-out stand. All public spaces at the summit observatory are barrier-free. Hokkaido University Botanical Garden
An urban oasis where history and nature coexist
The garden opened in 1886 at the suggestion of Dr. Clark. Approximately 4,000 varieties of plants are cultivated and grow wild on the grounds, and historical buildings, including the Kingo Miyabe Memorial Hall, have been preserved, retaining their original atmosphere. Due to the vast natural area on the university campus, it is recommended that visitors allow plenty of time for transportation and time to visit.

Maruyama Park
A park where the Maruyama Primeval Forest, a natural treasure, stretches. Also popular as a cherry blossom viewing spot
In addition to the Maruyama Primeval Forest, which is a natural monument, there is also a cedar forest, and the park is a place where citizens can relax and observe squirrels and wild birds. In spring, the park is loved by citizens as a cherry blossom viewing spot, with the magnificent Ezoyama cherry trees in full bloom. The park is also equipped with Braille guide blocks for the visually impaired.

Moerenuma Park
A unique park combining nature and art
Sculptor Isamu Noguchi designed the basic design of this park. The park has mountains, fountains, and playground equipment whose shapes are a variety of beautiful geometric forms, as well as a pyramid with a restaurant and galleries. There are steps to the top of the mountain, but walkways are provided between the facilities on the site, so visitors can move around on a flat level.

Hoheikan
Slip back in time to the Meiji Era. Learn about the wooden Western-style architecture and the history of Sapporo.
The only hotel built by the Meiji government and designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Inside the museum, guest rooms and other rooms from those days have been recreated, and visitors can enjoy videos related to the history of the Hoheikan. It is also reassuring to know that there are staff with universal manner certification in the museum.

Hokkaido Shrine
Hokkaido's main shrine, visited by 700,000 people on three days of the month
The Hokkaido Jingu Shrine, located amidst a forest of Shinto shrines, is a popular spot in Sapporo that attracts many worshippers from inside and outside of Hokkaido. There are three small shrines on the grounds, including Kaitaku Shrine, as well as a teahouse and other facilities, and a stroll in fine weather is recommended. Wheelchair access is available via the shrine office when praying at the main shrine.

Hokkaido University Museum
Feel the romance in the scratch-tile exterior walls.
This is a place where visitors can learn about the relationship between Inazo Nitobe, Takeo Arishima, and Dr. Clark, as well as archaeology and space science from exhibits including materials inherited from the Sapporo Agricultural College days. The museum store has original goods with the name "Hokkaido University" on them. The museum is accessible by elevator.

Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art
Boasts the largest collection of artworks in Hokkaido
A variety of special exhibitions are held by artists from Japan and abroad. The museum also holds exhibitions of approximately 5,600 items from its collection, including works by artists associated with Hokkaido and painters from the Ecole de Paris, ukiyoe prints from the late Edo period, and glass artifacts from Japan and abroad. The collection exhibitions are also translated into Braille, and the official website will be available in five languages in the summer of 2021.

Yoshitaro Migishi Museum of Art, Hokkaido
Poetic masterpieces in a place where trees thrive
The museum exhibits a collection of 257 works by Yoshitaro Migishi, a Sapporo-born painter who died at the age of only 31. Exhibitions of the artist's works are held under seasonal themes. The interior of the museum is designed in the image of Mr. Mikishi's studio. The museum is barrier-free, allowing visitors to view the works at their leisure. In addition, only written communication is available for the hearing impaired.

Junichi Watanabe Literature Museum
Learn about the life of Sapporo's most famous writer
A wide range of exhibits including books, photo panels, notes on the creative process, and original manuscripts of Junichi Watanabe, a writer from Sapporo, are on display. The exhibit also includes an audio commentary by the author himself, making it a must-see for fans. The building itself is also full of attractions, as it was designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando. There are no steps inside the museum, and the elevator is accessible.
