The Origin of Illumination Events in Japan; The Progression of the Art of Light
Sapporo White Illumination was the first illumination event held in Japan, which colors the city of Sapporo every winter. It was first held in 1981 The illumination event, that first started with about 1,000 light bulbs in Odori Park West 2-chome square, unveils a new look for 2022.Now visitors can enjoy a truly Sapporo event, a unique "art of light," created by combining the white snow and beautiful sparkling lights.
