As a key component of the “Creative City Sapporo” ideal proposed by Sapporo, Sapporo International Art Festival will be held for the first time in 2014. With its theme of “City and Nature”, the event has invited Ryuichi Sakamoto as the guest director and aims to become an art festival that creates opportunities for citizens to participate. Artworks will be exhibited and events held at Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art and Sapporo Art Park Art Museum—the main venues of the festival, as well as Moerenuma Park and Former Hokkaido Government Office Building (Red Brick Office). A number of collaboration events will also be held during the Sapporo International Art Festival, such as the free-of-charge PMF outreach concert held simultaneously at the venues of the festivals, which you should never miss out.
Telephone 011-211-2314 (Creative City Sapporo, Sapporo International Art Festival Executive Committee, Sapporo International Art Festival Organizing Office) The various exhibitions during the festival are in principle free of charge.
