Tenjinyama Park
A place for Sapporo citizens to relax that is full of nature and has cultural exchange facility
Tenjinyama Park is a green space spreading out from Tenjinyama, 89m above sea level, located in the Hiragishi district, where the history of Sapporo remains. It preserves the nature from Hokkaido’s early development period, and at the adjacent Soma Shrine, visitors are greeted by a 300-year-old small-chestnut tree. In addition to a Japanese garden, and plum and cherry groves, the green space also features an observation area providing views of Mt. Moiwa and the center of Sapporo, and it is a place of relaxation for Sapporo citizens. In 2014, “Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio” opened near the summit. There is a library space with a range of books about Sapporo and Hokkaido, and a meeting place salon complete with toys and books for children, and they can be used by anyone, free-of-charge. It makes a great resting place after you have enjoyed the rich natural environment.
