Rokka Library has a striking ivy-covered exterior. One of Hokkaido’s leading confectionery manufacturers Rokkatei’s Makomanai store was transformed into a library in 2004. Its collection of approximately 8,000 volumes all deal with food. They include novels, essays, recipe books, picture books, and illustrated reference books. The books cannot be taken out and beverages and food are prohibited in the library. There is a large fireplace with a cushy sofa in front of it, comfortable chairs with armrests, and a big wooden table and chairs. Pick your favorite spot, relax, and read to your heart’s content.
